I’m grateful to have co-organized the "Civic Centre Meeting: Stop Crimes. Safer Community, Review The Canadian Criminal Code and Bail System Petition" alongside Cathy Ru, President of the Markham Community Alliance, and Mayor Frank Scarpitti.

The petition, which collected over 5,500 signatures, reflects growing concerns in the community about issues such as car theft and break-ins, which have been on the rise.

The meeting served as an important opportunity to bring these concerns to federal and provincial representatives. A special thank you to York Regional Police officials—Deputy Chief Paulo Da Silva, Superintendent Sony Dosanjh, Inspector Brad Weick, and Inspector Mike Elliott—along with criminal defence lawyer Lambart Kwok, who joined us to share valuable insights into the current bail system and criminal trends.
